Canady advances to NCAA D-III National Cross Country Championships

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Grinnell College's Frank Canady '14 advanced to the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships after placing eighth at the Central Region Meet hosted by St. Olaf College Saturday.

Canady, competing in a 185-runner field, ran the 8-kilometer race in 25:49.1.

Erik Figge '13 was next in line for Grinnell, placing 35th in 26:30.3. Rounding out the Pioneer scorers were Kyle Moorehead '15 (68th in 27:17.0), Sam Krauth '14 (69th in 27:18.3) and Ben Tyler '14 (75th in 27:24.5).

By placing in the top 35, both Canady and Figge earned All-Region honors.

Adam Dalton '16 was 89th in 27:39.5 and Nate Kolacia '16 placed 110th in 28:14.1. The Pioneers were 10th in the 27-team field with 255 points. St. Olaf was the champ with 70.

The individual champ was St. Olaf's Grant Wintheimer, who finished in 25:20.9.

The national meet is this Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
