NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Grinnell College's
Sarah Burnell '14 punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships after placing 10th at the Central Region Meet hosted by St. Olaf College Saturday.
Burnell, competing in a 187-runner field, ran the 6-kilometer race in 22:37.6.
Next in line for Grinnell was
Stephanie Rouse '13, who placed 19th in 23:10.7. Rounding out the Pioneers' scoring group were
Diana Seer '15 (63rd in 24:23.4),
Jesse McNealy '16 (84th in 24:50.2) and
Metzere Bierlein '13 (99th in 25:07.1).
Cassidy White '14 added a 108th-place finish in 25:18.4 and
Paulina Campbell '16 was 116th in 25:31.1.
By placing in the top 35, both Burnell and Rouse earned All-Region honors.
Grinnell was eighth in the 28-team field with 275 points. The champ was Wartburg College with 72.
Linda Keller of Minnesota-Morris was the individual champ in 21:32.8.
The national meet is this Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
