DE PERE, Wis. – A pair of third-place finishes sparked the Grinnell College men's track and field team Friday at the 2012 Midwest Conference Championships hosted by St. Norbert College.
Gavin Warnock '14 was third in the long jump with a leap of 23-4 ½, while
Sam Krauth '14 had the same placing in the 1500 as he ran 4:03.30. Warnock's jump ranks fourth in school history and is less than an inch away from second.
Placing fourth for the Pioneers were
Frank Canady '14 in the 10,000 (34:07.88) and
Jake Lindstrom '14 in the pole vault (14-1/2), while
Ben Tyler '14 placed 10th in the 1500 (4:10.46).
In preliminary action,
Eric Ragan '12 and
Harpreet Singh '12 qualified for the 400 hurdle final with times of 56.96 and 59.69, respectively.
Grinnell is fourth in the team standings after the opening day with 32.5 points. Defending champion Monmouth College is in the lead with 70.5.
