Evan Griffith '15 led the way for the Grinnell College men's cross country team with a 48th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships Saturday.

Griffith toured the 8-kilometer course on the campus of Central College in 26:06.6. Next in line for the Pioneers were
Anthony McLean '17 and
Adam Dalton '16, who were 49th and 54th in 26:07.4 and 26:16.0, respectively.

Rounding out the Pioneers' scorers were
Zach Angel '15 (62nd in 26:23.7) and
Alexander Monovich '17 (108th in 27:26.2). Also for Grinnell,
Alex Mundell '16 was 111th in 27:29.8 and
Matthew McCarthy '17 placed 112th in 27:30.1.

Grinnell was 11th in the team standings with 321 points. The champ was St. Olaf College with points. The individual champ was Grant Wintheiser of St. Olaf, who finished in 24:13.4.

The top two teams and seven individuals from non-qualifying teams automatically qualify for the NCAA National Championships. At-large qualifiers will be added on Sunday.
