Young runs 5th-fastest 800 in Pioneer history

DES MOINES, Iowa – Shannon Young '17 ran the fifth-fastest 800-meter run time in Grinnell College women's outdoor track and field history at the Jim Duncan Invitational on Saturday.
 
Young toured the Drake Stadium track in 2:18.39 to place ninth in the event.
 
Alex Neckopulos '17 was seventh in the shot put with a toss of 35-3 ¼, while Eloise Miller '15 was seventh in the triple jump at 36-5.
 
Athena Carlson '15 was 12th in the pole vault with a leap of 9-1/4. Grinnell was 11th in the 4x100 relay as Becca Carpenter '15, Nora Bresette Buccino '16, Sarah Jensen '15 and Alex Schmiechen '17 ran 53.69.
 
The 4x400 relay team of Jensen, Miller, Young and Bresette Buccino was 12th in 4:10.08.
