Strong showing in 10,000 leads Grinnell women at MWC Championships

Results

RIPON, Wis. – A strong showing in the 10,000-meter run sparked the Grinnell College women's track and field team at the 2015 Midwest Conference Championships at Ingalls Field on Friday.
 
Emma Luhmann '18 was second in 40:09.47, while Diana Seer '15 placed third in 40:09.47. Alison Bayly '15 added a 10th-place finish in 42:54.56.
 
Eloise Miller '15 took third in the long jump with a leap of 17-4 ¼, while Athena Carlson '15 and Carolyn Peckham '17 were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault with leaps of 9-2 ¼ and 8-8 ¼.
 
Alex Neckopulos '17 placed 10th in the hammer with a toss of 129-8, a throw that ranks second in program history.
 
Miller qualified for the 400 dash final with the second-fastest preliminary time. Her clocking of 59.15 ranks fourth in school history.
 
Nora Bresette Buccino '16 made the finals of the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.27, which was sixth-fastest. That clocking ranks third in school history.
 
Grinnell is fifth in the team standings with 27 points. St. Norbert College leads the way with 71.5.
 
The meet concludes on Saturday.
