BELOIT, Wis. – Grinnell College continued its strong women's cross country season Saturday afternoon with a big performance at the Midwest Conference Championships.

The Pioneers, who have finished among the league's top three every season but one since 2004, extended that feat by taking third with 75 points.

Four Pioneers collected all-conference honors, sparked by
Emma Zimmerman '18 and
Emma Luhmann '18.

Zimmerman was fifth of 126 runners, running the 6-kilometer course at the Beloit Club Golf Course in 23:06.0. That time ranks 12th in program history. Luhmann was not far behind, placing ninth in 23:23.8.

Zimmerman has been all-conference twice now in her career, while Luhmann is a three-time honoree.

Other all-conference performers were
Anna Ahrens '19 and
Tori LaVerdiere '20, who were 17th and 18th in 23:43.3 and 24:00.2, respectively. Ahrens' time ranks 23rd all-time for the Pioneers and LaVerdiere moved into the No. 31 spot.

Both are all-conference for the first time.

Completing Grinnell's top five was
Nicole Arredondo '19, who finished 26th in 24:47.6. Others in Grinnell's top seven were
Whitney Teagle '18 and
Madeleine Breunig '20, 38th and 39th in 25:17.0 and 25:20.3.

The Pioneers compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in two Saturdays at Northfield, Minn.
