Anya Schwartz '93 started off her collegiate athletic career at Grinnell with a 'bang' and never looked back. A participant of both soccer and softball, Anya served notice early on by earning Freshman Athlete of the Year honors. This recognition was in large part due to her memorable performance during the soccer season as she gained all-conference honors with an 11-goal output. This success continued in her sophomore season as anya raised the level of success even higher. She managed to pour in a record 14 goals while leading her team to a conference title, once again receiving All-Conference and being named team MVP. While a six-goal junior year may have appeared to be off compared to the rest of her seasons, she showed how to be a team player by recording six assists, once again helping her team to the conference title. Anya's senior season solidified her position in Grinnell history, as she again led her team to a third consecutive league title. This time she tied her own previous record of 14 goals, while managing 10 assists. This again earned her all-conference and team MVP honors. Anya left as a holder of Grinnell records for goals in a season, 14, and goals in a career, 44. Since graduation Anya has earned a master's in botany and gone on to work for Food and Water, Inc. She has also continued her success on the soccer field as she is currently captain of a semi-pro team that has won six consecutive Northern New England championships.
