Kim Krutilla '80 joins the Hall of Fame as a multi-sport athlete who was national-caliber in field hockey and was also gifted in basketball, track, and softball. In her freshman year, Kim participated in all four sports, especially excelling in track. She had a phenomenal outdoor season, breaking school records in the 200m, 400m relay, 440yd relay, 800m medley relay, and long jump. This, along with her immediate impact on the field hockey, basketball, and softball teams, earned her the Outstanding Athlete of the Year award. During Kim's junior year she played an integral role as a member of the MACW champions women's basketball team. Her highlight performance came in the title game against Knox as she set the school's single-game scoring record of 23 points. As a senior Kim scored 6 goals for her field hockey team, earning her MVP honors and helping the Pioneers win the region 6 field hockey championship. Captaining the basketball team as a senior, Kim led by example, averaging 12.6 points per game. She was later awarded the Joyce C. Buck Memorial Award for the outstanding senior athlete in multiple sports. After graduating with an art major, Kim played on the 1980 Pacific Southwest Section team in the United States Field Hockey Association national tournament, and later in 1984 played on the U.S. team in the women's world soccer tournament in Taiwan. She is still an avid athlete, spending her free time skiing, windsurfing and backpacking. Krutilla received her EMT license from Skyline College and is currently an EMT in California.
