Margaret "Meg" Philpott '86-earned her induction by bearing the weight of her athletic career on her shoulders. One of the school's top swimmers during the '80s, she is known for her dominance in the freestyle events. As a rookie, Philpott swam a school-best in the 200 free in her first intercollegiate meet. After that initial break into the record books, she continued to improve in the 200 and other middle- and long-distance events. Over the next four years she set eight school records and one all-time best conference mark. As a sophomore, Philpott placed among the top six finishers in every event she entered at the loop meet. She was a member of the school record-setting 400 free relay squad her junior year. Philpott set school bests in the 200, 500, 1,000, and 1,650 free-all records that still stand today. She also was a member of the record-setting 200 and 400 free relay teams. Since graduating, Meg has returned to her native city of Denver, Colo. She is currently working at Graland Country Day School where she doubles as eighth grade science teacher and assistant boys' baseball coach.
