Grinnell women enjoy successful night at Pioneer Classic

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women swam to a pair of third-place finishes to open the 12th annual Pioneer Classic Friday night at Russell K. Osgood Pool.
 
Sarah Lopez '26 was third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.16, a clocking that ranks 19th in program history. Also taking third was the 200 freestyle relay team of Aliya Swearngin '25, Ciara Vogler '26, Kailee Shermak '25 and Sophie Juethner '26. Their time was 1:42.22.
 
Those placings helped Grinnell to third place in the loaded field with 150.5 points. Gustavus Adolphus College is in first with 280, followed by Carleton College with 164.5.
 
Grinnell garnered fourth-place finishes from Camryn Gonzales '25 in the 200 individual medley (2:17.96) and the 400 medley relay team of Lopez, Andi Fox '23, Gonzales and Juethner (4:13.60).
 
Vogler was sixth in the 50 freestyle in 25.62, while seventh place went to Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 200 individual medley (2:20.52) and Swearngin in the 50 freestyle (25.64).
 
The meet continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.
