GRINNELL, Iowa – With the aid of stellar days by
Sarah Lopez '26 and
Camryn Gonzales '25, the Grinnell College women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its own Pioneer Classic on a strong note.

Lopez not only won two event titles Saturday at Russell K. Osgood Pool, but had four swims that rank in the top 20 in program history. She also had two individual runner-up finishes on the day, as did Gonzales while the Pioneers placed third in the team standings with 662 points.

They were just 11 points behind runner-up Carleton College. Gustavus Adolphus College defended its title with 982 points.

Lopez won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.89 and 200 butterfly in 2:11.41, times that rank fifth and seventh in Grinnell history, respectively. She added runner-up finishes in the 100 backstroke (1:01.29, 14
th all-time) and 400 individual medley (4:48.59, 17
th all-time).

Gonzales was second in the 100 and 200 butterfly races with times of 1:00.27 and 2:14.89. Also placing second was the 400 freestyle relay team of
Aliya Swearngin '25,
Kailee Shermak '25,
Ciara Vogler '26 and
Sophie Juethner '26. Their time was 3:48.16.

Grinnell got a third-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay from
Sophia Carroll '25, Lopez, Swearngin and Gonzales in 8:28.99. Lopez,
Andi Fox '23, Gonzales and Juethner teamed up to place fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.76.

Vogler added fourth-place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley with times of 1:01.05 and 1:04.56.
Olivia Pluska '25 placed fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:15.93) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.22). Also placing sixth was
Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 400 individual medley (5:03.44).

Seventh place went to
Maria Eure '23 in 1-meter diving (309.05), Gonzales in the 200 backstroke (2:18.36) and Vogler in the 100 freestyle (56.90). Placing eighth were Vogler in the 200 freestyle (2:05.95),
Xonzy Gaddis '23 in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.67), Shermak in the 100 freestyle (56.92) and
Emmie Smith '23 in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.03).

Grinnell is off until Jan. 9 when it faces Connecticut College in Naples, Fla.
