GC women's swimming and diving team posts easy home victory

GRINNELL, Iowa - Led by quadruple-victory performances by Sarah Lopez '26 and Molly Ryan '27, Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team coasted to a 258-27 victory over Iowa Central Community College Friday night.

Ryan had two individual victories, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 1.64 seconds and 200 freestyle in 2:03.26. She also swam on winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays that had times of 1:53.41 and 3:49.05, respectively.

Lopez was also on the medley team and claimed wins in the 200 butterfly (2:11.95), 200 backstroke (2:16.46) and 400 individual medley (4:47.28).

Eva Cuevas '25, Sarah Lopez '26 and Samantha Cook '27 rounded out the medley squad, while the freestyle team also included Cook, Ciara Vogler '26 and Ava Rodriguez '27.

Cook also won the 500 freestyle in 5:31.94, Cuevas was tops in the 200 breaststroke in 2:32.10 and Vogler took first in the 50 and 100 freestyles in 25.42 and 56.28.

Other champs were Maria Rossi '25 in 1-meter and 3-meter diving with scores of 170.70 and 189.75, Natasha Zettler '27 in the 1650 freestyle (19:28.54) and Olivia Pluska '25 in the 100 backstroke (1:03.24).

Cook was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.99, a time that ranks 16th in program history. Other individual runners-up for Grinnell were Greta Dunn '26 in the 1650 freestyle (20:02.79) and 500 freestyle (5:56.30), Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 200 freestyle (2:07.24) and 200 backstroke (2:18.09), Olivia Klein '24 in the 100 backstroke (1:04.42), Genevieve Martinez '24 in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.57), Mary Calhoun '24 in the 50 freestyle (26.05) and 100 freestyle (57.42), Jane Markovitz '26 in 1-meter diving (159.68), Maree Elliott '24 in the 100 butterfly (1:02.72) and Cuevas in the 400 individual medley (4:53.72).
