Grinnell College’s Shirlene Luk ‘15 has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week.
Luk, from Grand Forks, N.D. (Red River) and the defending MWC champion at No. 1 singles, has picked up where she left off. She earned straight set wins against Luther College and the College of Saint Benedict at the No. 1 spot. In the Luther victory, she did not lose a single game while improving to 4-2 on the season.
Additionally, Luk teamed with Virginia Purcell ’17 to post an 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles against the College of Saint Benedict.
an?w hm???p?nor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} Grinnell College’s Isaiah Tyree ’15, a 6-1, 175-pound goal keeper from Rachos De Taos, N.M. (Taos), has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week.
Tyree continued his amazing start to the season, as his defensive skills allowed the Pioneers to earn a pair of ties with highly-touted University of Dubuque and Aurora University. In the 0-0 game with Dubuque, Tyree recorded 10 saves and he added six more in a 1-1 contest with Aurora, a team that entered the game with an unblemished 3-0 record.
For the season, Tyree has a 0.57 goals against average and .917 saves percentage.
The MWC Offensive Performer of the Week is Tyler Kassube of St. Norbert College.
