Athletic Training Information:
Athletic Trainers are allied health care professionals that are highly educated and work directly with the coaches and athletes in order to prevent injuries before they occur as well as provide injury evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation after an injury is sustained. Athletic Trainers must be board certified and licensed to practice in the state of Iowa. Grinnell College employs three full time athletic trainers to provide care for 20 athletic teams. The Athletic Trainers work under the supervision of Dr. Ryan Dahlby Albright who serves as Team Physician.
Grinnell College employs the services of a medical doctor to act as the team physician to oversee the healthcare of the athletic teams and help provide game day coverage for high risk sports and major sporting events that the college is hosting. The team physician is ultimately responsible for all medical decisions regarding the safe participation of the student athletes. The Athletic Training staff works under the direction and supervision of the team physician.
