Grinnell College’s Elliott Czarnecki ’15, from Sioux Falls, S.D. (O’Gorman) has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week.
Czarnecki, ranked 21st in the Central Region, cruised to wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with Tommy Pitcher ’17 in 9-0 conference shutouts of Monmouth College and Knox College.
He defeated his Monmouth opponent 6-0, 6-1 and his Knox foe 6-2, 6-0. He and Pitcher shut out a Monmouth duo 8-0 and won 8-4 against Knox. Additionally, Czarnecki posted a 6-5, 5-7, 10-5 victory at No. 1 singles the following day in a match against Augustana College.
Czarnecki’s efforts helped Grinnell, ranked 17th in the Central Region and riding an 11-year MWC title streak, to a spotless 6-0 mark in league play while improving to 23-10 overall.
The weekend wins stretched Grinnell’s winning streak against league opponents to 111, dating back to 2002.
