Grinnell College’s Maddy Pesch ’16 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.
Pioneer athletes swept the honor, as Ian Dixon-Anderson ’17 was tabbed the MWC Men’s Performer of the Week.
Pesch, from St. Cloud, Minn. (Cathedral), was dominant over the weekend, winning four events in two dual meets including a pool record. Her pool record came in a meet at Luther College where she won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:31.11. She also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.18 and was part of the first-place 200 freestyle relay team that finished in 1:42.47.
A day earlier, in a dual with Coe College, she won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.96. Additionally, Pesch was on two runner-up 200 medley relay teams over the weekend and took third in the 200 individual medley against Coe. Grinnell beat Coe and narrowly lost to Luther to start the season 1-1.
