Alissa Hirsh ’16, a 5-5 guard from Skokie, Ill. (Niles North), was nothing short of spectacular as the Pioneers opened MWC play with a 2-0 mark. In an 82-78 home victory over Beloit College, she reached the 1,000-point mark for her career by tallying a team-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting to go along with nine assists, five steals, three rebounds and a block. She is the eighth Pioneer to surpass the 1,000-point mark, and the first since the 2007-08 season.
Earlier in the week, Hirsh led Grinnell to a 69-52 victory at Monmouth College, the Pioneers’ first win at Monmouth since the 2011-12 season. Hirsh had a game-high 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go along with eight assists and three steals. In the two games, the All-MWC first-team performer shot a scorching 68 percent from the field.
