Kayla Morrissey ’18, a 5-10 forward from Burr Ridge, Ill. (Lyons Township North), had a huge week for the Pioneers, averaging 15 points and 6.3 rebounds a game as the Pioneers went 2-1. She tallied 19 points and eight rebounds in an 85-80 victory over Augustana College of Illinois, and added 13 points and five boards in a close loss to the University of Dubuque. Both games were part of the Jon Davison Classic.
In a return to MWC play, Morrissey tallied 13 points and six rebounds as Grinnell rolled past Lawrence University 50-37 to improve to 3-3 in the league and 6-5 overall. Lawrence’s point total was the lowest output allowed by Grinnell in a game since the 2011-12 season.
