Grinnell College’s Abby Nielsen ’21 has begun her collegiate career in impressive fashion by earning Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors.
Nielsen, from Albuquerque, N.M. (Albuquerque), won four matches in as many tries Saturday. Competing at No. 1 doubles with Amelia Cogan ’19, the Pioneer duo won 8-3 against Augustana College and 8-1 against Edgewood College.
Nielsen also posted a 6-0, 6-2 win in singles against Augustana and 6-0, 6-1 victory against Edgewood.
As a team, Grinnell split the contests by blanking Edgewood 9-0 and losing a 5-4 thriller to the Vikings.
