Ryan Slager ’19, a linebacker from Orland Park, Ill. (Amos Alonzo Stagg): Slager recorded a career-best 23 tackles in the Pioneers’ contest with Monmouth College on Saturday. The nation’s leading tackler had nine solos and 14 assists to boost his season total to 84 through five games, an average of 16.8 an outing. Slager’s tackle total Saturday ties for fourth-best in a game in program history and sent his career total to 372, just eight shy of third place on Grinnell’s all-time chart.
