Grinnell College's Kayla Morrissey '18 has been named the Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Performer of the Week.
It was a sweep for Grinnell, as Vinny Curta '19 claimed the honor on the men's side.
Morrissey, a 5-10 forward from Burr Ridge, Ill. (Lyons Township North), became just the ninth player in Pioneer history to surpass 1,000 career points during last Thursday's game against Central College. She scored 37 in the contest, giving her 1,036 for her career, and now ranks in the top 10 in program history in several career categories including points, field goals, free throws and blocked shots.
Morrissey also had 29 points against Emmaus Bible College to average 33 points for the week while shooting 66 percent from the field. Additionally, she averaged 8.5 rebounds per game.
