A strong showing in the distance events, led by Matthew Phipps' '20 win in the 3000-meter run, paved the way for the Grinnell College men's track and field team at Saturday's Grinnell Invitational.

Phipps won the 3000 at the Bear Center Field House in 9:21.41, emerging from a field of 13 runners. He defeated the runner-up by more than 15 seconds.
