Grinnell College's Jasper Yang '21 has proven he is stellar on the pitch.
But the Pioneer men's soccer player also has what it takes in the classroom and today was named to the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-District Team presented by Google Cloud.
Yang, a forward from Stow, Mass. (Nashoba Regional), was one of 11 players voted by sports information directors to the NCAA Division III District 8 squad. District 8 includes 21 states and Canada.
Yang is just one of three forwards on the squad and one of two sophomores. This marks the seventh time a Grinnell player has earned the honor and the second year in a row the Pioneers have been represented on the team.
Yang's four goals and eight points in a contest againstt Beloit College this season ranked ninth and 10th in program history, respectively. On Grinnell's all-time season chart, he ranked third in shots on goal per game with 1.93 and fifth in shots on goal with 29. He is 10th on Grinnell's career shots on goal list with 45.
Yang was also among the Midwest Conference's best in several categories. He was second in game-winning goals with four, third in goals (12), goals per game (0.80), points (26) and points per game (1.73), seventh in shots per game (2.73) and ninth in shots (41).
By being named Academic All-District, Yang's name will appear on the ballot for Academic All-America.
