The well-deserved honors keep rolling in for Grinnell College’s Ryan Slager.
Slager, a 6-1, 225-pound linebacker from Orland Park, Ill. (Amos Alonzo Stagg), has earned a spot on the D3football.com All-America honorable mention team. He is Grinnell’s first All-American since Ryan Seer earned the honors in 2011.
A two-time D3football.com All-West Region selection, Slager was recently named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award for the second year in a row. Slager broke the NCAA record, regardless of level, for career tackles per game with 15.13 over four years. His 605 career tackles rank first all-time at the D-III level and second overall. His solo tackle total of 271 is fifth all-time.
Slager set school records for assisted tackles with 334 and fumble recoveries with eight. This season, the three-time All-Midwest Conference selection had 158 total tackles which was second nationally and third-best in program history. His 87 unassisted tackles in 2018 rank second in Grinnell history.
