Ky-Sean Johnson ’19, a 5-11 guard from Wichita, Kan. (Maize), has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Johnson displayed his sharp shooting eye in a pair of Grinnell wins during the past week. In two games, he connected on 69.2 percent of his 3-point attempts (9-of-13), shot 63.2 percent from the field (12-of-19) and was 100 percent from the free throw line (8-of-8) while averaging 20.5 points per game.
Johnson was 4-of-7 from 3-point land and had a game-high 24 points in a 106-95 win over Illinois College and was 5-of-6 from long range and scored 17 in a 135-104 win over Lawrence University. Grinnell continued its recent dominance of Lawrence with the win, beating the Vikings for the eighth time in the last nine tries.
