After a dominating performance at the Grinnell Invitational over the weekend, Grinnell College’s Chris Zhang ’22 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

Zhang, from Darien, Conn. (Darien), claimed victory in four events as the Pioneers won their eighth Grinnell Invitational title in a row. He was first in the 100-yard freestyle, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley with MWC-leading times of 48.07, 1:59.17 and 4:16.50, respectively. The 400 IM performance ranks among the top 10 fastest ever at Grinnell.

Additionally, he helped the 800 freestyle relay team to victory in 7:20.41, tops in the MWC this season. Zhang was also on the runner-up 400 freestyle team that had a MWC-leading time of 3:15.50 and was a member of the second-place 200 freestyle relay squad.
