After helping Grinnell College earn a spot in the Midwest Conference Softball Tournament, Pioneer shortstop Maddie Matsubara ’22 has been named the league’s Position Player of the Week.
 
Matsubara, from Cypress, Calif. (John F. Kennedy), swung the hot bat for the Pioneers during the last week by hitting a sizzling .633 as Grinnell won seven of eight games. She was 19-of-30 at the plate with a homer, five doubles, three triples, nine RBIs and 12 runs scored. She had a 1.100 slugging percentage and helped the Pioneers set a school record for MWC wins with 13.
