Grinnell College’s Tolu Alabi ’13 enjoyed a stellar season in 2012-13, and that performance has been recognized with a selection to the All-Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Second Team.
Alabi, a 5-9 guard from Garki, Abuja, Nigeria (Model Secondary School), ranked among the league’s top 10 in five categories – scoring (13.4 points per game), rebounds per game (7.5), offensive rebounds per game (2.6), defensive rebounds per game (4.9) and minutes played (33.5 per game).
She was also 13th in the league in field goal percentage at 44.7 percent, and ranked second for Grinnell in assists and steals per contest at 1.8 and 1.4, respectively.
Earlier this season, the two-time Academic All-Conference performer was selected to the District 8 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team.
Alabi has helped spark the Pioneers’ resurgence in recent years. After Grinnell won just five games overall and three in MWC play during her first year, the Pioneers have 32 overall wins and 28 in the league in the past three seasons.
