Christine Ajinjeru ’14, from Kampala, Uganda (United World College Atlantic), was recently named the Midwest Conference Women's Track Performer of the Week.
She shattered two school records and won an event to lead the Pioneers at the Grinnell Invitational Saturday. She won the 400-meter dash in 58.74, beating the runner-up by more than 2 seconds in the 16-runner field. That performance also smashed the previous Pioneer record of 59.19, set by Camarin Bailey in 2000. Her time is tops in the MWC this season and ranks among the top 40 in NCAA Division III. Ajinjeru also ran the 60 dash in 8.23, besting her previous school record of 8.33 set last weekend. She also ran the 4x200 relay, where the Pioneers ran the seventh-fastest time in program history.
