MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's soccer team sailed past Cornell College 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers broke out to a 2-0 halftime lead when
Nora Sahel scored in the second minute on
Carolyn Silverman's assist and Silverman tallied a goal in the fourth minute on
Claire Ruegg's assist.
Grinnell made it 3-0 when
Shaina Zarkin-Scott tallied a goal in the 74th minute on an assist by
Elyse Salpekar.
Grinnell outshot the hosts 22-6, with Sahel taking six shots, Silverman, Zarkin-Scott and Nora Bresette Buccino three each and
Kristen Stacey and
Hannah Truesdale two each.
Keeper
Katy Oldach posted the shutout and had two saves for the Pioneers, who are 2-4 in the Midwest Conference and 4-8 overall.
