GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College volleyball team dropped its 2015 home finale Friday night, falling to Monmouth College 25-17, 25-19 and 25-23 at Darby Gymnasium.
 
Emily Friedman had eight kills for the Pioneers, while Ariel Lepito and Evelyn Weidman tallied seven each and Sydney Vrecenar six.
 
Margaret Giles dished out 27 assists and Friedman served up two aces. Jennifer Joy had 11 digs and Emma Willhardt three total blocks.
 
After losing the first two sets, it appeared the Pioneers were in business in the third when they shot out to an 18-12 lead following a kill by Giles. However, Monmouth rallied to secure the victory.
 
Grinnell is now 1-8 in the Midwest Conference and 2-18 overall, while Monmouth moved to 3-7 in the league and 9-18 overall.
 
The Pioneers finish their season Saturday at Illinois College.
