GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's soccer team finished the 2015 season on a strong note Saturday, shutting out Beloit College 2-0 at Springer Field on Senior Day.
Carolyn Silverman scored in the 26th minute for the Pioneers and
Lilyrose Weiss added a goal in the 61st minute on
Nora Sahel's assist as the Pioneers improved to 3-7 in the Midwest Conference and 6-11 overall. Beloit fell to 4-6 in the MWC and 7-9 in all contests.
On Silverman's goal, she received the ball from midfield and dribbled it into the left-hand corner of the box. She worked past a Beloit defender and shot it past the keeper.
Weiss' goal came after Sahel had a free kick from the left side of the field. It entered the box and Weiss got the rebound before firing into the net.
Grinnell won the shots battle 7-6, with Sahel and Weiss taking two shots each.
Katy Oldach, who became the school's all-time career leader for saves in the contest, recorded five in posting the shutout.
