STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Grinnell College softball team wrapped up its 2015 campaign Tuesday with a doubleheader loss at Buena Vista University.
The Beavers, who improved to 18-19-1, won by scores of 10-1 and 10-2. Grinnell finishes at 6-29.
In the opener, Buena Vista scored three runs in the first inning, two in the second and five in the fourth. The Pioneers got their run in the top of the fifth on an RBI infield single by
Jordan Matosky '16.
Melissa Anderson '18 was the pitcher of record for Grinnell.
In the second game, the hosts went up 4-0 with a run in the first inning and three in the second. Matosky had an RBI double to right-center in the third to make it a 4-1 game.
The Pioneers closed within 4-2 in the fifth when
Kristina Weber '16 singled and then moved up on an error, allowing a run to score.
The Beavers closed out the win with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Maggie Remus '18 was the pitcher for Grinnell.
