INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's soccer team shot out to the early lead, but Simpson College scored twice – including once in the second overtime – to earn a 2-1 victory in the season opener for both teams Tuesday night.
 
Grinnell's goal came in the 39th minute from Artis Curiskis '18 on Antonio Dimarco's '18 assist. The Pioneers led 1-0 at halftime before Simpson scored in the 56th and 101st minutes.
 
The Pioneers managed seven shots, with two coming from Evan Sorenson '19 and one each from Curiskis, Dimarco, Michael Hurley '16, Nikolai Harroun '18 and Nicholas Brule '17.
 
Keeper Major May '17 recorded four saves for the Pioneers, who entertain Crown College at 5 p.m. Friday at Springer Field.
