GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's soccer team saved its best for last as the Pioneers topped Buena Vista University 1-0 in double overtime Wednesday at Springer Field.
 
Carolyn Silverman '17 found the back of the net with just 1:19 left in the second extra period to secure the victory.
 
On the play, Nora Sahel '18 delivered a corner kick from the right corner that was cleared by the defense. Lilyrose Weiss '18 entered the box with the ball on the left side and the keeper came out to defend. Silverman then got control of the ball behind the keeper and kicked it past a defender for the match-winning goal.
 
Katy Oldach '16 recorded four saves as the Pioneers improved to 2-3 on the season.
 
Grinnell won the shots battle 26-4, with Francesca Varias '18 taking six, Silverman and Sahel five each and Kitt Richards '18 and Sasha Baumann '16 three each.
 
Grinnell opens Midwest Conference play Saturday at Knox College.
