RIPON, Wis. – Nearly a year ago, the Grinnell College women's basketball team won for the first time ever at Ripon College.
The Pioneers proved that was anything but a fluke Saturday afternoon, as they knocked off the Red Hawks again 59-53 in a key Midwest Conference contest.
Alissa Hirsh '16 had 20 points for the Pioneers, while
Kayla Morrissey '18 added 15 points and three steals.
Sophia Gatton '17 added three assists and
Alex Neckopulos '17 grabbed nine rebounds.
Grinnell led 17-10 after one period and 29-23 at halftime. The lead was 43-40 after three periods.
Ripon cut the gap to one several times in the fourth quarter, but Hirsh made a layup and two free throws with :29 left and Morrissey sank two free throws to seal the win.
Grinnell hosts Knox College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Darby Gymnasium.
