GALESBURG, Ill. – The Grinnell College women's soccer team left it all on the field in a 1-0 loss to Knox College in the title match of the Midwest Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers, who finished their campaign on a strong note and a 9-7-3 record, played the North Region's third-ranked team to a 0-0 halftime tie.
Knox tallied a goal early in the second half and made it stick to improve to 19-0-1 and earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Grinnell managed seven shots in the game and held a 5-4 edge in the second half.
Carolyn Silverman '17 and
Shaina Zarkin-Scott '18 had two shots each, while
Hannah Truesdale '18,
Sasha Baumann '18 and
Simona Bambi '18 tallied one each.
Regan Kasprak '19 had another strong effort in goal for Grinnell, coming up with five saves.
The Pioneers were making their 10th trip to the MWC Tournament title game.
