APPLETON, Wis. – Grinnell College's men's soccer team opened up a 3-0 halftime lead on its way to a 3-1 victory over Lawrence University Sunday afternoon.
The win was big for the Pioneers, who are in the hunt for the Midwest Conference Tournament, as they improved to 4-3 in the league and 6-8-1 overall.
The scoring opened in the 10th minute when
Antonio DiMarco '18 scored his team-high 11th goal of the season on an assist from
Artis Curiskis '18, his fourth of the year.
Jasper Yang '21 added a goal in the 26th minute, his third of the year, and
Sidney Hotchkiss '20 added a goal right before halftime to make it 3-0. It was his fourth score of the year.
Michael Spicer '21 and
Jared Cloutier '20 split time at keeper, with Cloutier making two saves and Spicer one.
Grinnell doubled up on shots compared to its foe, winning the battle 18-9.
Francisco Sanchez-Conde '18,
Artis Curiskis '18 and Piedrasanta had three each, while
Zach Thal '18 and
Matt Record '20 took two apiece.
The Pioneers entertain Ripon College Saturday at Springer Field. Match time is at 3:30 p.m.
