GALESBURG, Ill. – Grinnell College saw its successful men's soccer season that included a strong finishing flurry come to a close Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 setback to Lake Forest College in the Midwest Conference Tournament title game.
Grinnell, which beat regionally-ranked and tourney host Knox College on Friday, had won four straight entering Saturday's game. It was a scoreless halftime tie before Lake Forest scored in the 53rd minute.
The Pioneers had several chances later in the second half with close-range balls in the box, but couldn't convert. Lake Forest tacked on another goal in the 79th minute to seal the win.
Lake Forest won the shots battle 15-12.

Jared Cloutier '20 recorded five saves in the contest as Grinnell finished at 9-9-1. Lake Forest advances with a mark of 12-6-1.
Grinnell, making its eighth MWC Tournament appearance in the last 12 years, made a dent on its all-time leader board. The team scored 95 points this season, third-best in Pioneer history, and the 25 assists rank fourth. The team's 294 shots are second-most.
Individually, DiMarco ranks sixth in points for a season (33), seventh in goals (13), sixth in assists (seven) and fifth in shots (55).
DiMarco and
Artis Curiskis '18 also appear on the school's career leader board. DiMarco is sixth in career points with 78, seventh in goals with 28, second in assists with 22 and fifth in shots attempted with 139. Curiskis is third in assists with 20 and seventh in shots attempted with 114.
