Mount Mercy scored all four of its runs in the first inning during the opener. Grinnell managed three hits in the game, singles by Stariha,

Megan Gardner '19. Remus suffered the pitching loss.
Mount Mercy broke open a scoreless game in the nightcap with a run in the fourth inning. The Pioneers tied it in the sixth when Juveland scored on an error, but the Mustangs tallied twice in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Stariha and
Megan Gibson '17 each had singles for Grinnell, and Anderson had the pitching loss.
Grinnell finished its season with an 11-23 record, while Mount Mercy improved to 11-37. The Pioneers' win total is the second-highest in the last decade.
Besides Stariha's at-bats record, she also recorded her 31st career walk to move into eighth on Grinnell's all-time list. Juveland tallied her 14th career sacrifice hit to move into ninth.
Three Pioneers moved up on the program's season-best lists, including Stariha (third in at-bats with 119),
Mikyla Murphy '19 (eighth in at-bats with 104) and
Kayla Morrissey '18 (second in walks with 17).

Grinnell pitchers gave up the third-fewest amount of walks (32), while the offensive outputs of 928 at-bats and 247 hits ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
