GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's soccer team battled toe-to-toe with Beloit College in a defensive showdown on a wet Springer Field Saturday afternoon.
But in the end, the Buccaneers came away with a 2-0 victory in Midwest Conference play. Beloit scored in the 28th minute for a 1-0 halftime lead. Grinnell possessed the ball a good portion of the second half and had its chances, but couldn't find the back of the net as the Buccaneers added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
Grinnell outshot the visitors by a 13-10 margin, including nine shots on goal compared to seven for Beloit.

Grinnell is 4-7 overall and 0-3 in the MWC, while Beloit improved to 4-6-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
The Pioneers entertain Cornell College at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Springer Field.
