GRINNELL, Iowa – Despite a career-high 15 points from
Emmy Nyquist '23, the Grinnell College women's basketball team dropped a 78-46 decision to St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.
The Pioneers, who shot just 11 percent from 3-point land and 23 percent from the field in the Senior Day affair, fell behind 24-12 after one period and trailed 44-20 at halftime.
Besides her big scoring day, Nyquist also had seven rebounds for the Pioneers, who are 6-10 in the Midwest Conference and 10-13 overall.
Sofia Ahooja '22 added two assists,
Kate Tomczik '22 and
Claire Collier '21 blocked two shots each and
Kathryn Stender '21 had a pair of steals.
Grinnell's lone lead came when
Tyria Heath '21 opened the game with a layup. The Green Knights answered with a 10-point run and cruised from there to improve to 8-8 in the MWC and 9-14 in all games.
During the game, Grinnell boosted its season point total to 1,494 which is ninth all-time for the program. The Pioneers' 969 rebounds rank fifth all-time.
The Pioneers play at Beloit College Tuesday. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
