GRINNELL, Iowa – Though Grinnell College's men's soccer team didn't clinch the regular-season Midwest Conference title Saturday, the Pioneers will regroup and take aim at the league tournament crown next weekend.
Lake Forest College clinched the 2022 title with a 2-0 win over the Pioneers on Senior Day at Springer Field, scoring a goal in the 16
th minute and adding an insurance score in the 52
nd minute.
The Foresters improved to 5-1-2 in the league and will host next weekend's MWC Tournament. They are 6-8-3 overall.
Grinnell, 5-2-1 in the league and 9-7-1 in all games, is the second seed and will try to avenge an earlier loss to third-seeded Ripon College in Friday's semifinal.
Grinnell nearly matched the Foresters in shots, with the visitors holding a 14-11 edge.
Noah Guyton '23 had three shots for Grinnell,

Sam Heller '23 came up with two apiece and
Dylan Maddux '26,
Nate Girard '23,
Caleb Hoereth '24 and
Matias Bambi '23 added one apiece.
Carter Benson '24 made three saves for the Pioneers.
