GRINNELL, IA – The Grinnell College Women's Swimming and Diving team competed in their home pool during the Quadrangular meet today versus club teams from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Iowa State University. In this friendly meet, no diving was contested and team scores were not tallied. The competition was a good chance for swimmers to swim different events and on different relay teams.
Early on in the meet,
Olivia Pluska '25 swam the 500 freestyle in 5:38.49 for first place. 20 events later,
Enya Gamble '21 swam a time of 2:21.83 on her way to first place in the 200 backstroke. Both of these times were personal bests.
Nicole Schlegel '21 finished first in two events: the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.96 and the 100 freestyle in 56.74 seconds, just three-hundredths of a second in front of
Kailee Shermak '25 in second place. Additional noteworthy first-place finishes for the team include
Kendra Howard's '24 time of 2:05.51 in the 200 freestyle, and
Sophia Carroll's '25 time of 1:03.47 in the 100 IM.
The Pioneers had a number of other first place finishers and solid performances in today's meet.
Between both men's and women's teams, 11 Grinnell College student-athletes finished their season with this meet. Up and down the roster, Women's swimmers are kicking into top form headed down the home stretch before Midwest Conference Championships the weekend of February 18th-20th hosted at Grinnell College.
