RIPON, Wis. – Grinnell College's women's tennis team sailed to a pair of Midwest Conference road victories Saturday, moving to 3-0 in the league and 3-1 in all matches.
The Pioneers opened the day with a 9-0 blanking of Ripon College. Grinnell sailed to wins in doubles play, getting an 8-1 decision from
Ananya Manchanda '26 and
Anika Sheth '26 at the second spot and 8-2 wins from the duos of
Sabrina Tang '23-
Nichole Henning '26 at No. 1 and
Josephine Blumenthal '23 and
Alyssa Trapp '26 at No. 3.
In singles, Tang,
Tan Mukherjee '26 and Henning all posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at Nos. 1, 4 and 5, respectively.
Nehir Ergun '26 won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, Manchanda was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3 and Trapp earned a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 6.
The Pioneers followed with a 7-2 decision over Lawrence University. Tang and Ergun won 8-4 at the top doubles spot, Sheth and Henning posted an 8-1 decision at No. 2 and Mukherjee and Blumenthal were victorious 8-3 at No. 3.
The Pioneers won the top three singles spots with Tang (6-0, 6-0), Sheth (6-4, 6-2) and Ergun (6-2, 6-1), as well as No. 6 with Mukherjee (6-0, 6-2).
With the victories, Grinnell stretched its winning streak against MWC foes to 26.
Grinnell will compete at the ITA Fall Regional next weekend in St. Peter, Minn.
