GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College will continue its battle with Lawrence University in the Midwest Conference Women's Conference Soccer Tournament after the teams fought to a 1-all draw Saturday at Springer Field.
The teams tied at 1-all in the regular-season finale for each, meaning Grinnell earns the second seed for the MWC Tournament this Friday at Lake Forest College and Lawrence University collects the third seed. Match time is yet to be determined.
On Saturday, Grinnell (9-3-5, 5-0-3 MWC) fought back after trailing 1-0 at halftime. A mere six minutes into the second stanza,
Tali Berk '24 scored her fifth goal of the season and eighth in her career to force a tie.
Nearly 40 minutes of play ensued, with each team getting good looks at the goal but not scoring.
The teams were nearly even in shots, with Lawrence (6-5-4, 5-1-2 MWC) holding a 16-14 edge.
Beya VanRheenen '26 had four shots for Grinnell,
Jane March '24 and Berk tallied three apiece and
Kate Nakamura '26 added two.
