LAKE FOREST, Ill. – In a battle of Midwest Conference volleyball top-division teams, Lake Forest College nipped Grinnell College in four sets Saturday afternoon.
The Foresters (16-6, 6-2 MWC) won the first set 25-18 and then sneaked out a 27-25 victory in the second. The Pioneers (12-15, 4-2 MWC) bounced back in a big way, posting a 25-16 victory in the third set before Lake Forest secured the win with a 25-21 decision.
Jenna Keller '24 and
Millie Leonard '27 led Grinnell's balanced hitting attack with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Emily Brewer '24 tallied 31 assists and Keller served four aces while
Sophie Weber '25 added three aces.
Keller also had three blocks and 12 digs. Weber and
Hayley Taka '26 added 20 and 11 digs, respectively.
Grinnell has a big test Wednesday when Cornell College visits Darby Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. meeting. Cornell is unbeaten in MWC play.
