Grinnell women's tennis team pushes winning streak to 10 with thrilling victory over UW-Eau Claire

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Grinnell College women's tennis team had yet another impressive outing, posting a thrilling 6-3 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday.

The Pioneers broke out to a 2-1 lead through doubles play, highlighted by an 8-4 victory by the top tandem of Sabrina Tang '23 and Ioanna Giannakou '24 over a nationally-ranked duo from UW-EC.

Grinnell, which extended its winning streak to 10 matches while improving to 10-1, also got an 8-3 decision at the second spot from Lily Perrin '25 and Isa Voinescu '26.

Tang and Giannakou pushed Grinnell closer to the five-win threshold, as Tang earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles and Giannakou won a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (12-10) marathon at No. 3. The Pioneers clinched the victory with another nail-biter decision, a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) win by Perrin at No. 5.

The Pioneers got some insurance by Erin Jarvis '25 at No. 6 with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win.

Tang continued to push up Grinnell's all-time victory list, with the 71 career singles wins ranking fourth and 48 doubles victories coming in at 19th.

Grinnell has two weeks off before its spring break trip to Califoronia.
