Grinnell men's tennis team goes toe-to-toe with No. 9 Chicago before losing in NCAA D-III Regional semis

ST. PETER, Minn. – Facing one of the toughest teams in the nation, Grinnell College's men's tennis team didn't budge an inch Saturday afternoon in NCAA Division III Regional Tournament play.
 
Grinnell led ninth-ranked University of Chicago 2-1 through doubles play before the Maroons rallied in singles to secure the 5-2 regional semifinal win.
 
Grinnell's doubles duo of Sam Rudenberg '25 and Deuce Daniel '26 posted an 8-5 win at No. 2, while Karch Knoll '25 and Lucas Willett '26 added an 8-7 decision at No. 3. At No. 1, Aiden Klass '25 and Leo Esztergomi '24 put up a great fight before losing 8-4.
 
The Maroons won at Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles to secure the victory and move to 16-5 overall. Grinnell, with nearly its entire team returning next year, finishes out at 18-8 overall.
